Jack Petchey Award 2016

The Jack Petchey Achievement Award 2016 has been awarded to Molly Easter and Megan Ferguson-Smith.

John, our Chairman, announced the swimmers in May and handed out their certificates on pool side with the squad and coaches present.

Molly received the award for training really hard and making County times this year and was able to swim at the February Age Development Surrey Counties.

Megan received the award for also training really hard and although didn't quite make the County times, she achieved many Personal Best times whilst trying.

It is always difficult for the Head Coach to select just a few swimmers each year for the award, as many of you train hard too.

The award is given to those that gain real personal achievements and I think we all would agree that both girls truly deserve it this time round.

Southwark Aquatics is part of the Jack Petchey Silver Achievement Award Scheme. It is a reward and recognition initiative which enables schools and youth organisations to celebrate the achievements of their young people as well as receive additional funding.

Each awardee receives £250 to spend on the club so all members benefit from the award. The girls now have £500 to spend on the squad and have decided on a team trip. More info and dates to follow but we're ear marking first or second Saturday in Sept before the new season gets underway.

Well Done Girls!
